Putalinga Kula Banana – AKA Red Trunk Popo’Ulu Banana

The Red Trunk Popo’Ulu, Once thought to be a Hawaiian banana is now known to be a Tongan Banana called Putalinga Kula that migrated with Tongans to Hawaii in the 1960’s.

The Putalinga Kula has a red trunk but with green bananas, the Putalinga Kula is a favorite with the Tongan Community.

This banana is also called the Red Trunk Popo’Ulu as it is a Popo’Ulu type, is a very good cooking banana.
